Meet our Football program's Head Coach, Coach Esquibel. Prior to being named the head varsity football coach, Coach Esquibel served in multiple roles on the football staff including freshmen assistant coach, freshmen head coach and JV head coach. On the varsity staff, Coach Esquibel served as the varsity defensive and offensive line coach, tight end coach and offensive coordinator for freshman and JV programs.
Under Coach Esquibel’s direction, the Knight’s freshman football team, in 2018, amassed an impressive 9-1 regular season record and an 8-2 record in 2019 as head coach of the JV team. Coach Esquibel has worked with the Knight’s Track & Field program for the last five seasons, assisting with the throwers, distance runners, and sprinters. He has become a dependable resource to the program also running and organizing the school’s home track meets as Meet Master.
“Coach Esquibel far exceeds what is expected from a coach. His character stands tall in the school and community. He has been there to support kids in their time of need both on the field and off. Coach Esquibel has instilled confidence in kids. He has a mix of passion and compassion that he gives the kids, a mix that has made him very respected and loved around Shadow Hills athletics. Coach Esquibel motivates people to reach their potential with positivity and encouragement,” stated Head Track & Field Coach Richie Detamble.
Coach Esquibel learned his skills from top ranking high school and college coaches in the nation and has attended athletic camps across southern California. He has completed the FCA 3 Dimensional coaching program that provides world-class training aimed at building up not only the strength of the body but also the minds and hearts of players.
“It is an honor to take the helm of the football program. I have watched high school football evolve over the years in the Coachella Valley and we want Shadow Hills High School to be a key component of the evolution of our program. I hope to build on the foundation and am excited for what the future holds,” stated Coach Esquibel.
